The Selsians are polytheistic, and worship the pantheon of dieties!
This will go over the six dieties, what they control and influence, and what the selsians believe them to be like!
Plaza'o is the primary goddess of the selsians. make no mistake, she does not govern the Sun that Niburu revolves around. she IS the Sun that Niburu revolves around.
In myth, Plaza'o created the Selsians, a species made of plant and sun, and gave them the gift of spoken language (Selsimicu). Once she was done, she rose up to the sky to become the Sun, that Niburu and the three other planets in its solar system revolve around. She gives off the sunlight that feeds the Selsians' wanu. This is how they rationalize photosynthesis; The light of Plaza'o powers their very own star, which in turn powers them.
However, this language was then "thieved" by other creatures (at least according to the myth), and was no longer just for them. So Plaza'o came up with a new strategy.
When a Selsian's seed is buried to grow into a child, Plaza'o imbues, within their wanu, the Pheromone Code, used for purely selsian-to-selsian communication. It's channeled through their antennae in bursts of pheromones and understandable only when close together and sensed by the antennae. It does not travel via the Fungal Network and cannot be deciphered by anyone who isn't a Selsian. Therefore, it's seen as an intimate, yet NOT secretive, register. Scents and pheromones stick around far too long in the air to be secretive, but it is personal.
Selsians will bring their antennae closer together to talk with the Pheromone Code.
Language, whether spoken or puffed out, channels the gift of Plaza'o. Written language too, though that may also intersect the domain of Kextafiz, depending on permanence. Really, to live in itself is to channel the gift of Plaza'o. The wanu is necessary for a proper life, or maybe even a life at all.
She is characterized as disciplined, truthful, clear and punctual. She, as the monophysical entity, leads the other non-physical goddesses. She is the leader of the pantheon.
Incantation: Plaza'o tokix: Response to the bringing of good or prosperity (i.e. Hallelujan, Godbless)
Onamiu is the second-in-command of the pantheon. If Plaza'o is the one that brings life into the world, Onamiu nurtures it, letting it all grow and thrive by its own hands.
Onamiu is quintessential to life itself. She is what unites plants, fungi, animals, Selsians and the Jazrajoto: their love, desire and ultimate dependance on water. All water is of her hands, be it rivers, lakes, ponds, the vast ocean, the cold ice, the dew after cold mornings, everything. She is practically omnipresent, never taking a break to ensure everything is ready and satisfied, to the best of her ability. Though that is not to say she never requires help.
As is seen by the two branches of her power, most all labor is contextualized under the metaphor of agriculture and irrigation: To bring Onamiu's water to the needy, be it plants for growth, selsians for sustenance and especially sick or wounded selsians for health and recuperation. To "give water" is to work towards a goal, to not is to disregard actively. Someone who works hard and tirelessly flows like a river, while ones who get distracted or are inefficient are like the seafoam on a waterfall; visually noisy, but massless overall.
Living may channel the gift of Plaza'o, but truly enjoying your bountiful life, both what IT brings to you and what you make it give you, is what channels the virtues of Onamiu into a Selsians' very core. Plaza'o light heats the core, and Onamiu's refreshing waters cool it back down, maintaining equilibrium. a Selsian that gets water but no light will surely drown, and a Selsian that gets light but no water will surely be cooked from the inside.
She is characterized as helpful, patient, friendly and hardworking. She works in tandem with Plaza'o to directly maintain life on the planet.
Incantation: Onamiu tokix: Request for assistance or guidance in your (or someone else's) development of a large task, for proper resolution (i.e. Godspeed, Godbless)
Ēbemuf is the spice of life of the pantheon. Plaza'o brings forth life, Onamiu nurtures life, and Ēbemuf makes life worth living!
Events of randomness fall into the hands of Ēbemuf, spicing up the monotony of existence with numerous unpredictable waves with high highs and low lows. With Ēbemuf, nothing can truly stay the same. Her one goal, apart from stirring up the fabric of reality, is to teach equanimity.
Games, especially those with elements of randomness, pay tribute to Ēbemuf. Dice themselves pay tribute to Ēbemuf! The sa'ebe (die) is integral to most selsian games for recreation, because a little element of randomness IS recreation! Games of pure skill aren't really games at all, but tests, challenges. At least SOMETHING has to be out of your hands for it to be a "game". However, gaming and contests can share a key attribute: fun! Though, of course, not all that chance governs is fun. Natural disasters, random bursts of devastation, even just a slight change to your dily preferred shade spot, all also under chance. But again, the lesson is clear. You cannot seek to control the hand of fate, you just have to let it run and get back up. You must ALWAYS adapt!
Games, art, and creative innovation fall under the will of Ēbemuf, for they can never really be recreated twice. It brings her joy to see people taking risks, even as small as trying something new. If it goes well, phenomenal. And if it's to fail, you will know better for the future.
She is characterized as erratic, comical, quickwitted and quite a bit impish. You might think you're not, but everyone's a little like Ēbemuf inside.
Incantation: Ēbemuf tokix: Call of final strength to make a possibly risky choice, and accept and adapt to the result afterwards. (i.e. YOLO)
Mibiqa is the mediator of the pantheon. She keeps everyone together and harmonious, overseeing all connections, from lousy friendships to tight-knit fungal network clans to blooming eternal marriages. She watches over these bonds as they resist the roughest of tough times, or maybe crumble under their own weight, or the infinite possiblities of interaction between people. Mibiqa's keen-eyed for all, and ready to peacefully intervene if a bond requires divine help.
The selsian marriage structure forms a single, unchanging mibtu with 2 or more members, which other selsians may join throughout time, and some may leave it, be evicted, or die within it. It's entirely longstanding; even once all original members have passed, the marriage still persists if there are people keeping it, the love of Mibiqa AND their spouses, alive. Nothing else matters.
As a test of love courtesy of Mibiqa, the common Selsian marriage ceremony follows the many fiance selsians formulating a "paste of love", a fungal network scent blend with ingredients derived from their past experiences apart and/or together. They must all wear it for a full day while completely together, tied at the legs by a two-tupfa length rope. If any is uncomfortable with the scent or this ritual, the wedding is called off. When officiated, the incantation is spoken: Mibiqa tokix, and it is official.
Interestingly, Mibiqa is said to have brough the Niburu moon, femwena, to the planet. It was originally its own planet, but as Mibiqa noticed the pre-lunar Selsians unable to rest in eternal day, she borrowed the planet from Twanusu and sent it to bathe Selsians in its eerie, tiring light for half of the day. This ability to sleep through the night gave Selsians the ability to recover energy, ultimately becoming stronger and ready for more. And this speaks to the true idea of Mibiqa: bonds aren't passive, they require tending, rest and caring gestures.
She is characterized as unforgiving, calm, collected and very alert. All you must do is remain where you must be. Those who encroach where they shouldn't be will not be dealt with lightly.
Incantation: Mibiqa tokix: Used to officiate a marriage, or someone into the marriage in ceremonies. Used as a "goodnight, I love you" between spouses.
Twanusu is the reaper of the pantheon, ready to put things in place. She rules the vast cosmos outside of Niburu's small bubble of life. All the stars, planetary bodies and comets are from her realm, outer space itself, untounched by anyone known.
When a selsian dies, their wanu rises up in the dead of night, becoming one of the stars in the night sky. Twanusu brings these stars out of the domain of Niburu and into her own, with their memories embedded in their very core. At night (or at random points within the day), these memories can become dislodged, landing back on Niburu in a selsian's head and manifesting as an "oinasu", a dream. these are perceived mostly as "ghost static", indicative of a mistake of the wanu above, and are not considered prophetic (though are mystified either way).
Souls in Twanusu's domain that get bored of eternal existence in this new plane will selfishly shoot across the cosmos, leaving trails of their flaming memories behind. This action is called "nirol" (to mesmerize), and Twanusu does not take it kindly. If a shooting star, meteor or comet (a soul doing this very thing in her domain) is caught in the act, it will be struck down, landing back on Niburu, disheveled and unglowing. Meteorites are the wanu of selfish individuals who flaunted a bit too close to the sun.
In service to Twanusu and Mibiqa, selsians will close their eyes when the trail appears, chanting the incantation, and divide the meteorite evenly among the populus, often keeping it to forge into mini-trinkets or for non-taboo metalworking. In fact, meteorite minerals are the exact OPPOSITE of the regular metal taboo, because in NO circumstances should it be taken underground or buried within the earth. Souls are never to be recycled.
Twanusu "owns" the 5 kaoplozi (celestial bodies, the Niburu moon and the 4 planets of its solar system, including Niburu itself), most of which only she actually does. It is only Femwena (co-owned by Mibiqa, as previously stated) and Niburu (co-owned by all 6 goddesses, the perfect balance and thus the birth of life) that any other wished to claim.
She is characterized as unforgiving, calm, collected and very alert. All you must do is remain where you must be, and all is well.
Incantation: Twanusu tokix: Chanted while closing eyes at the sight of a meteor's trail, to maintain Twanusu's dignity.
Kextafiz is the very manifestation of the selsian desire for free knowledge, and the philosophy of the clay writing species which exists to serve her holy vision.
She represents all that is known, preserved and recreated in archived tablets for years to come, and yet simultaneously all that is impossible to find, tantalizingly curious or that which has, is or will be forgotten to the tides of time. Kextafiz does not guarantee that knowledge may surface, but once it's been found by the people, she decrees it must be known by all people, and selsians act accordingly.
Teaching, a trivial act, is a direct channeling of Kextafiz's will from selsian to selsian, and conversely, learning is too! Both display the ritual flow of knowledge. And, of course, nothing is as much a devotion to Kextafiz as deliberately replicating a work to then send to the Language Capital's vast archives, to be preserved for hopefully eternity. It's both a statement of goodwill for the future and a terrifying step forward. Choosing to take it yourself is your only real choice.
The power of Kextafiz is what lead to the creation of the Language Capital, a giant building of collosal importance, where Selsimicu is standardized for the entire world. It's the closest thing selsians have to a governing body, except it's one that governs their language and their knowledge VIA the language, archiving all known and found text of it so it's not only clear what it is now, but what it always used to be.
She is characterized as nerdy, meticulous and informative. Knowledge is power.
Incantation: Kextafiz tokix: Request of preservation of new discovered knowledge, or a call to help remember something that one's now forgotten.
